Po Tricks His Foe by Sharmila Deo Kalpavriksh and Eklavya, 2018, 22 pp., 75
November 2018, volume 42, No 11

I like this adventurous story. The main character is a pangolin named Po, and his favourite food is termites. He loves to be alone because all the animals tease him for his scales all over his body which make him look rather weird.

One day, all the animals in the jungle start running away from ‘a dangerous animal’. When Po comes face to face with it, he does not run away and all the animals stop to see what happens next. Po has several advantages including his scales which are like armour, and a super-long tongue. He uses an excellent trick and escapes from the danger.

When I was in 2nd Standard, one of my classmates was very short and he had cross legs. All the boys in the class loved him and treated him with respect and kindness.  Sometimes, our friends are different from us, but we are still friends.

I liked this book a lot.

Syed Bilal is 9 years old and studies in Baldwin Boys’ School, Bangalore. When he is not  playing football or cricket, he  loves spinning stories around household objects.
