Aao Baadal/Patang/Kya Baat Ho Gayi? by Shyam Sushil, Prabhat and Rajesh Joshi All three published by Eklavya, 2018, 10 pp., 25 each
November 2018, volume 42, No 11

The three attractive little titles are a Parag Initiative, an imprint of Eklavya Books, in association with the Tata Trust. Printed on beautiful paper which shows the colourful illustrations to great advantage, these books will be greatly enjoyed by toddlers who can open out the pages in one spread. They will be drawn to handle them, look at the pictures and sing the lilting lines along with their siblings, mother or father.

The titles are also all about nature: a colourful spreadsheet about clouds from the time they are formed in the sky with thunder and lightning to the falling rain with children dancing joyfully while adults hold up umbrellas; kites to be made out of paper and bamboo, glue and twinkling stars—this book is pure joy; and finally the wondering notes of whatever could have happened, speaks eloquently of environmental degradation, telling a stark story in a few short couplets of how the earth is laid barren.
